Movie Premieres

Living in a big city has it's perks. Like MOVIE PREMIERES!!!!!! There were three big movie premieres in Sydney in November: Madagascar 2, High School Musical 3, and of course...AUSTRALIA! We didn't actually see the red carpet for High School Musical 3 but here are some pictures from Madagascar 2 and Australia:

The back of Ben Stiller-he stayed in the Four Seasons Hotel just around the corner from where we live. We staked it out for awhile but never saw him other than on the red carpet.

Ben Stiller and Chris Rock (you have to look closely)

Here are some pictures from the Australia Premiere at the Greater Union Cinema on George Street. They had huge screens set up outside and they actually played the movie out there, but it was cold and rainy so we left after the actors went inside. I have to say, Hugh Jackman absolutely lives up to his "Sexiest Man Alive" title and Nicole Kidman's body is to die for...even after her baby.

Driving on the Left

Rob and I finally gave Australian driving a shot in Rob's company car. Despite being scared to death about driving on the left side of the road and trying to maneuver round-a-bouts going the opposite way, it was actually kind of exhilarating to finally get behind the wheel again. It's been almost a year since I've driven! As soon as we hit the road I said, "Wow, I've never felt so cool in a station wagon before!"

This is the Anzac Bridge. It looks so much like the Ravenel Bridge in Charleston! Especially from this angle. A little taste of home

And guess where our final destination was???

That's right! The Outback!

We enjoyed The Outback in the outback. The set up was almost identical to the ones in the States, too. We actually understand most of the clever names on the menu now though.

The Rocks Markets by Moonlight

Every Friday night in November there was an event called Markets by Moonlight in The Rocks (where we live). They have live music performances and little booths with people selling books, jewelery, artwork, etc. They also have a Yellow Tail wine booth where they give out samples of all of their wines! We only ended up going to it one Friday but we got to hear Axle Whitehead and Jade MacRae perform.

Music and Friends

While Pink was in town for the Aria awards she held a morning concert for "Sunrise"-a morning news program that is similar to Good Morning America. She performed at Martin Place which is just a couple of blocks away from our apartment so we went over to hear a few songs on our way to work.

That same week The Veronicas performed on Sunrise. They performed inside the studio, so it wasn't quite as cool but we still went to see them through the glass.

Later that week The Presets put on a concert at The Apple Store. The Presets were voted the Aria's Artist of the Year. There were only about 200 people allowed inside for the concert and we waited in line with high hopes....but no such luck. We still got a couple of good pictures from outside though.

Here are some pictures of some of our Slovak friends and Swedish friends. They live in our old apartment now.

Octoberfest!

It's October, and that can only mean one thing: beer-drinkin' time!

Lowenbrau-a fun pub in The Rocks with HUGE beer glasses!

I don't even drink beer but can always appreciate a good photo op

Rob-on the other hand-DOES drink beer

Australian Beer Festival at the Australian Hotel in The Rocks. Over 100 of Australian brewing companies exhibited their beer outdoors on a GORGEOUS day (and no...Fosters beer isn't popular here and wasn't at the Festival)

So cute-rocking our new Ed Hardy t-shirts at the Beer Festival

We took a ferry out to Watson's Bay after the beer festival. No beer was served on the ferry so I had to bring along my can of UDL (vodka, soda, and lime in a can....awesome)

Cute pic of Rob taking in the view from the boat.

Ahoy!

Watson's Bay (we actually took the wrong ferry originally and by the time we actually got to Watson's Bay we had half an hour before the last ferry left to go back to the city. We enjoyed a bowl of "chips" at the first restaurant we saw then got right back on the boat and went home)
