Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary

5/11/09
We woke up early in Brisbane and decided to go for a walk through Venman Bushland National Park just outside of the city. We looked around for koalas in the trees but didn't have any luck. We did see a kangaroo with a little joey in her pouch but it was still a little dark in the morning so our pictures didn't turn out.

After our bushwalk we made our way to the visitor's centre to get some info on the city. We decided that we should go check out the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. We'd seen koalas in Sydney and in Melbourne but in the zoos in New South Whales you aren't allowed to hold them; in Queensland it's legal to "cuddle a koala"!

So cute!

My little baby bear. I wanted to keep him.
After cuddling the koala we moved on to the kangaroo area:

Emu

Hanging out with some of my mates

Uh oh....

And back to the koalas...

Big stretch!

Scary snake!

Pile of turtles

"The dingo ate your baby"

We finally got to see a Tasmanian devil!
