V-Festival

My gift to Rob for his birthday this year was tickets to V-Festival. V-Fest is the Virgin Music Festival that is held each year at Centennial Olympic Park in Sydney (and also held in other locations throughout Australia). It's an all-day music event and this year it ran from 1pm to 10pm on March 28th with performances on each of the four stages by bands such as Snow Patrol, Kaiser Chiefs, The Kills, Duffy, and the headliner: The Killers. The park itself is 543 acres so the event was pretty spread out with plenty of food stalls and bars set up all around. It ended up being a GORGEOUS sunny day! Here are some of the pictures:

Snow Patrol! Their performance overlapped with The Killers so we only got to stick around for a couple of songs before dashing across the park to try to get a good spot for The Killers

Sia Concert and "After Party"

The Sydney Apple Store puts on small, private concerts every now and then. This week, Sia played for a group of about 200. I have loved Sia's song Breathe Me for about 3 years but I never even knew she was an Aussie! She's from Adelaide. Rob and I were about 4th in line at the concert to see her live. She was incredible! Even though she was one weird little cookie, her voice is amazing! We were so close to her it was awkward taking pictures because the camera was right in her face! Here are some of the shots we got:

After the concert we went out in the city and met up with some friends. It was Jeff's last night in Sydney before heading back to the States so a party was in order.

March

A few random days in March:

Our Melbourne friend Nathalie came to Sydney for work so we got to hang out with her for a few days. Dawn came out too. We started the day with lunch at the Australian Hotel and then walked across the Harbour Bridge

Can't miss an Opera House photo op

Once we were across the bridge we went to Luna Park! Dawn had never been and she was about to leave Sydney for good so she wanted to see it.

The next night we all went out for some after work drinks at Rooftop Bar (Dawn, Nathalie's work colleague, Nathalie, Rob, me)

Followed by dinner at Jackson's on George

And then a drink at the posh club Ivy

The Ladies Man

And the next night we all got together for Mike and Dawn's Going Away Party! :( They were heading back home to North Carolina (Kwun Ye, Dawn, Me, Nathalie)

At the end of the night we had to say our goodbyes to Mike and Dawn. We're hoping to plan a reunion once we're all back in the States!
